Embassy of Sri Lanka celebrates Thai -Pongal in Lebanon

In collaboration with the Sri Lankan Tamil Community in Lebanon, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Lebanon celebrated the Hindu harvest festival, Thai Pongal on 20 January 2019 at the Embassy premises. Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Lebanon, Mrs. H.M.G.R.R.K. Wijerathne Mendis inaugurated the celebration amidst a large gathering of Sri Lankan Hindu devotees.

On behalf of the Ambassador, Head of Chancery has delivered Thai Pongal message of the President Maithripala Sirisena to the gathering. The Hindu devotees has prepared the pongal and offered to Lord Ganesh with the ritual practices and blessed the participants.

Tamil expatriates entertained the gathering in performing dance and sing songs. In concluding the event, participants were offered with traditional Tamil food and delicacies.
